TuneUp

Tune-up can take any messy iTunes database and turn it into the pristine sort of collection reserved only for those with indentured man-servants. TuneUp's killer tuning capabilities comb your music collection for anomalies, replacing erroneous metadata, adding album covers and quite a bit more (it'll even tell you when your favorite musicians are touring): Uncrate

Sounds a lil random to me but if you are one that likes to have all this information at your fingertips, it seems like a good tool for organisation.

Yello: Bostich

Thanks to Ape Skinny for this one. In a word mesmerizing!! LOVE IT!! (The fact he saw this and thought of me says something!! - dunno what...)

Can you decipher the lyric?

I love the spinning cap. I would like to visit this world. Just visit though lol

Bjork: Who Is It

My fave track from her 2004 album Medulla, featuring the legendary beat-boxer Rahzel (great peoples). Hey... if you can find the album version, it is seriously inspiring (I'm feeling so inspired today!!) and the vocal audio is a lot more audible. But who could resist posting a vid like this?? Truly unique is Bjork - seriously, dunno... what can I... I mean... no more to say.

Extras Clip with David Bowie

No matter how many times, just can't actually help but get tickled by this. The sheer insult. Upon insult. Classic hilarity!

(And I love Bowie. More Bowie posts to come soon.)

Im Psychic

One week ago, a thought just popped into my head:

*PoP*.
"Hhhmmm, I wonder what happened to that amazing vocal group, En Vogue. They were so good and had some classics".

I went on Spotify and couldn't find my favourite song of theirs, so I went on YouTube, and there they were in all their divalicious glory. 2 days later, I see a post on a blog... "En Vogue To Reform". What!? Well seems I've done it again guys. I've done it again.

I like the quick RnB songs that sound like hiccups and the occasional burp but I was missing a good sing-your-lungs out group, so I hope they come back strong, Dawn in toe. I hope there's more to come. If so, could I have YouTubed it into fruition? I like to think so. And it wouldn't be the first time. (Oh, dont mention it, you're welcome ;P - Tee hee!)

Not one of their more popular songs, but def one of my favourites they ever did.

Kid Cudi / Gnarls Barkley: Going On

Gnarls Barkley have got the be the band with the most number of really uptempo-but-sad songs ever. My whole "dance and cry" ethos personified! (Or musicalized - new word alert!) This song, Crazy, Smiling Faces... know what I mean?

I know this aint new but this song really describes the place I'm at now. And today's no different! Unlike Kid Cudi it seems, who says he wants to retire. I feel him cos the road is long (longer than most people really realise - more trials than a series of Law & Order) and he's worked very hard. If you can say you're retiring before your 1st album has even dropped, that is a real luxury!! I just dont want him to be in no-love city when it does, cos of his announcement. Cudi gives his reasons, but many of us are hoping its an extended moment of defeatism. A passing phase. Hater-acknowledgment week. So here's my bid to get Cudi to retract his statement. As song and video are both intergalactically great, this is what I class as a MMM (Magic Music Moment) Gnarles Barkley. Going on.

Adidas Originals Watches

They are: 50m water resistant & £50 but the gold one jumps up to £90

Senor Kaos: Girls Rock Too

THANK YOU!!

Now I'm not and never have been the burn your bra type. If anything, I'm more for the way of doing things, where men and women all had a place in society and played their position. But that's not the case. And it aint easy out here.

I finally started to get attention for my music. But I get more attention (especially from men, and even moreso from men in the industry) when I put on a skirt and heels. I dont feel like doing that all the time. I reckon if I didnt get the WRONG kind of attention when I did, I would do it more but some people dont know how to act. Watching too much porn. Sex ain't the only thing about me. And for f*** sake, STOP tryna turn me into what your mind has stereotyped me as. I'm female, not a prostitute.

There, I said it.

And I can almost guarantee I would have gotten a lot more outta this industry had I chosen to use my body, as a opposed to my talent. Its really sad. And that's an everyday battle kids. EVERY. DAY.

That's why I sighed a breath of relief when I saw this, and wont lie, I did kinda well up cos how many times you hear this? See this? Not one booty shakin', hot-pant wearin', hip-swingin', horny-looking, promise-of-sex having hoochy mama in sight. Only a speech of recognition and respect for all the other great things we can be, and we can do. Over a killa beat.

Senor Kaos, I salute you. Girls Rock Too.

B.I.G.

Time and other factors has meant I haven't been able to catch the movie Notorious yet, but he was my favourite rapper. March 9, the date he died has been marked as Biggie Day! The song in this post contains one of my favourite lines in rap. It pops out for no particularly clever reason, but it means a lot: "Stereotypes of a black male misunderstood, and it's still all good."

You are missed :D

Charlie Sloth Hollers at Sewuese

Charlie Sloth: Don OFFICIAL! So last week we were filmed when he hollered at me to do a tune with him and dope producer Dominic Owen:

But Charlie, what happenned?? Where's the name flash graphic?!?!? This feels like deja vous! Biding my time though cos what I got cookin'... you'll be calling your kids SEWUESE

(Thanks for all the great feedback re my blog - peeps telling me they love the fact it's both sides of the coin. I ain't ashamed to be human - I wouldn't bother with music if I couldn't connect with you so I'm so glad I can do that with my music as well as everything else I'm doing!!)

MooVee, I mean... MyVee Music?

I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery....

...but that would be very presumptuous of me!

Check it out, these dudes from Germany (practically my 2nd home in '08) are called MyVee Music, not MooVee, but MyVee, all one word and everything. Logo looks... interestingly familiar, yet not!

Click here for the MyVee Music Myspace

Can you hear the musical similarities? Uncanny...

Banksy

How long is art 'Modern Art'? How long before it's classic?

What I love about this and most of Banksy's art is not just his amazing ability to draw or create a picture - not just the fact most of his work also includes a message or emotion, marks an era, issue or culture, all wordlessly conveyed. But to top it off, I consider the locations he favours for much of his work - the street - adopted as an unforbidden outdoor gallery. He's seemingly aware and unafraid of his works' immortality. True, the same could be said of any great graffiti or street artist, however even with Banksy's achieved status, each exterior piece is left at the mercy of any and everyone to do with as they wish. As they cannot easily be transported and confined to the walls of a display room, this gives them a freedom, a vulnerability, a preciousness, and, considering their ever-imminent vandalism or decay, a actual life of sorts.

Banksy: Instant modern classics

Mini-gig mini-Freeze!

Maaaaan....

Twin B, I love you to death for the tremendous talk-up you gave me last night, for my big show finale performance! Then, the voices came and INVADED! So many forces been trying to stop me being the best I can be, on stage and otherwise, and while I did what I could to ward them off, they attacked! Never been great at addressing crowds other than with my voice so good practice. One of my favourite quotes is 'Face you fear. Then run towards it' - so I'm running, running, running... I trip sometimes. Hey, I guess you win some, you lose some. Overall, I'm winning and I had fun.

Its was a pleasure working with that band but a sound-check is simply NOT ENOUGH!

I will begin rehearsals with my band in about a week, so I'll be more settled, comfortable and give you more than 2 songs. A better, bigger performance. Give you a lil more me. I know perfectionism, and she's a bitch.

Went to Jump-Off Seminar (love ya Ara) this eve too - some great advice from the panel which included the legend Jazzy B. Didnt expect an invitation to turn it into the Sewuese show! But thanks for the Big-up anyway Mr Kwaten. Amongst all this, I'm more and more seeing how visible I've been becoming. The streets is watching... It's only when you get out there and get feedback from people that you realise you're making such an impression which has so far, been fabulous! This considering I aint dropped nothing major by myself, is a very dope sign.

More shows to come, when I'm ummm... REHEARSED! But before that, got a couple more big mixes to do. Getting in it next week. Video footage and Mute Diary Entry to come.

Happy March!
Sing you soon xx
