Mini Mute Entry: Why I Do This...

Last week, I went to talk to some college (in the US they're high school senior) students about a career in the music industry. I gave them the good, the bad, and a lil song at the end. I got some feedback when a few came and told me how inspired they were. One of them sent me this:

erm.... well u dont realy no me but you came to my college and i was in the last session that you had at the back. with another boy.
well what can i say realy.. hmm erm ....when i heard you talk about issues that you have come through to get to the position that you are in yes i wos touched but you have made me realise that i realy want to do music. that is what i do that is practically who i am. in a way im like you except for the lona part you were talking about that was funny
but yh i dont know what uve said that has made me push my music all the way but youve done it. i hope you were treated right at my colege people who were in my session really respect you because you could have been put down by things around you but yet you went all the way because that is what you wanted to do and that is what i want to do aswell. o i forgot to say my names ceejay ok.
thanyou

On a separate occasion, a lady had emailed me, telling me how my music had touched her, and that one of my songs would be the song that would be playing for her first dance at her wedding.

Every time I get up and sing, or go meet people, all the BS and perils of working in this industry become so petty. There are so many stupid distractions along the way, but like I said, I wanna share a gift I know I have been given, so I feel privileged, and I aint even really scratched the surface yet. Thank you for reminding me why I do this.
